  • For clinicians who completed EMDR Basic Training
  • 20 hours of live instructional content
  • 20 NBCC + 20 MO-NASW CE hours
  • Springfield, MO + Zoom
  • Taught by Jen Savage + Bridger Falkenstien
Fit

The refresher is for you if…

  • You completed EMDR Basic Training, recently or years ago, and want the eight-phase protocol and the AIP model solid under you again.
  • You trained in EMDR but have not used it consistently, and want to rebuild confidence before bringing it back into your caseload.
  • You want the current instruction without repeating the practicum and consultation you have already completed.
How it works

How it works

The instruction from Basic Training, taken again.

The EMDR Basic Refresher is the instructional portion of our EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training, opened to clinicians who have already completed a Basic Training. You rejoin the 20 hours of live didactic content: the history, methodology, and mechanisms of EMDR therapy, the Adaptive Information Processing model, and the full eight-phase protocol from history taking through reevaluation.

You attend alongside the current cohort, in person in Springfield, MO or over Zoom. Your enrollment covers the instructional sessions only: the practicum and consultation components belong to first-time trainees, and the refresher does not repeat them.

Outcomes

What you'll take back to your caseload

By the end of the refresher, you'll be able to:

  • 01

Move through all eight phases with the sequence and intent of each clear: history taking, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, closure, and reevaluation.

  • 02

Ground your case conceptualization in the Adaptive Information Processing model and use it to refine treatment planning.

  • 03

Integrate EMDR therapy into a holistic therapeutic framework across diverse populations, settings, and presentations such as trauma, phobias, and anxiety.

  • 04

Prepare clients for EMDR safely: resourcing, stabilization, and managing affective responses in session.

  • 05

Return to your caseload with renewed confidence and competence in applying EMDR therapy.

Refresher or the full training?

If you have already completed an EMDR Basic Training, the refresher gives you the instruction again without the components you have already done. That is the whole idea: revisit the theory and the protocol, restore your footing, and get back to using EMDR with clients.

If you have never completed an EMDRIA-approved Basic Training, the refresher is not the doorway. The full EMDR Basic Training is, with practicum and consultation included. See the full EMDR Basic Training. Still comparing programs? We wrote a guide to choosing an EMDR training.
