The Cyclical Body

Integrating menstrual cycle awareness into clinical practice. A live, three-hour workshop on how the phases of the cycle shape mood, cognition, behavior, and nervous-system regulation, and how to bring a cyclical lens into the therapy room. Join virtually or in person, 8:30–11:30 AM Central.

This training is for you if…

  • You work with clients whose mood, energy, or nervous system shifts in ways a static case formulation doesn't fully explain.

  • You want a practical, non-pathologizing way to bring menstrual health into the therapy room without overstepping into medical territory.

  • You're already working somatically and want to add a cyclical lens to how you conceptualize and pace clinical work.

What you'll learn

By the end of this workshop, you'll be able to:

  • Identify the four phases of the menstrual cycle and the hormonal changes associated with each.

  • Apply a cyclical lens to case conceptualization and treatment planning.

  • Integrate practical intervention strategies that support cycle-aware therapy.

Why a cyclical lens

The menstrual cycle shapes mood, cognition, and nervous-system regulation, and most case formulations leave it out.

For many clients, what shows up in the room shifts across the month: energy, affect, capacity for activation, the felt sense of safety. When we hold the formulation static, we can miss the pattern entirely, or pathologize something that's cyclical and expected.

This workshop gives you a working knowledge of the four phases and the hormonal shifts behind them, then connects that to what you actually see clinically: how to notice it, how to talk about menstrual health without overstepping, and how to pace and plan with the cycle rather than against it.

It pairs naturally with a somatic, SIP-informed approach. A cyclical lens is one more way to track the body's state and meet the client where they are.
