AI in your practice

A readiness workshop for therapists. Four hours on what AI actually is now, where it already sits in a therapy practice, and how to bring it in on your terms. From the three owners of Beyond Healing, who rebuilt their own company around it.

Where therapists actually are
  1. 0Nowhere, on purposeYou have read the headlines and decided to wait.
  2. 1A chatbot in another tabUsed now and then, for things you would not say out loud.
  3. 2Notes drafted for youYou dictate or paste, it writes, you fix.
  4. 3An EHR that listensLive in session: recording, transcribing, drafting the summary the insurer wants.
  5. 4The business runs on itEmail, scheduling, referrals, your website. Not just the notes.

You have an opinion about AI, and it was probably formed by a headline. Meanwhile a colleague's EHR now listens to the session, writes the note, and drafts the summary her payer wants before the client reaches the parking lot.

You have questions you have not said out loud. Which of these tools is which? What is it doing with what my client just said? What can I hand off, and what has to stay with me? Is there a way in that does not mean handing my practice to a vendor?

Most of the AI conversation in our field answers none of them. It is either fear or a sales pitch. Neither feels like clinical judgment.

If you have wondered where you sit on that ladder, and where you want to, this morning is for you.

AI isn't one thing.

ChatGPTClaudeGeminiPerplexityGrokCopilotthe one inside your EHRthe one scanning your website

The word covers a chatbot you tried once, the transcription running inside an EHR, the engine behind a search tool, and the system reading your website to decide whether anyone finds it. Treating all of that as one amorphous thing is why most therapists either avoid all of it or trust all of it.

You would never ask one person on your team to do everything you do. The same is true here. Each of these tools has a temperament: a set of strengths and a set of things it should never be trusted with. You work with them the way you work with a person, by getting to know them. We spend the first hour building that map, and you leave with it.

Four hours on knowing what you are working with before you bring it in.

What four hours cover

Four questions, taken in order

01
What is AI, now?

Ten years ago to this morning, briefly and without the hype. What changed, what did not, and a map of the platforms you keep hearing about: which is suited to what, and how to tell.

02
Where does it already sit in a therapy practice?

From a chatbot in another tab to an EHR that listens, transcribes and drafts the note for reimbursement. The steps in between, what each one asks of you, and where you actually are.

03
What could it carry in the clinical room?

Case conceptualization, consultation between sessions, preparing for a hard hour. What that looks like in practice, what it should never touch, and a SIP-informed consultant you can try for yourself.

04
What could it carry in the business?

Email, the calendar, referral tracking, your website and whether anyone finds it. Solo or group practice, you own a business. Ryan runs ours, and this is his hour. We go deep on two tasks rather than shallow on all of them.

This is not a workshop about a product, and it does not assume you are technical. It is a readiness workshop: by the end you know where you sit, where you want to be, and the rules you will set before you move. You bring the practice. We bring the map, the tools and the safeguards.

What you take home

Plug-in files, not slides.

We can show you everything AI can do in a practice in four hours. We cannot teach you all of it, and you would not want us to. So the workshop goes deep on a few things, and sends you home with the pieces that let you start the same week.

01 · The map
The platform map

One page. The tools you keep hearing about, what each is suited to, and what to reach for when you have a particular job in front of you. Built to be referred back to, not read once.

02 · The packet
The practice setup packet

A folder of plain-text instruction files you drop into Claude, ChatGPT or a similar tool. It interviews you about your practice, learns where the strain is, and sets itself up for the business tasks we cover. It includes a draft-only email assistant: it drafts replies into a folder you review. It never sends.

03 · The rules
The safeguards

One page of rules to set before anything else. What never goes into a general-purpose tool. How to keep client communication out of your AI's reach. What drift looks like after a few weeks, and the rules that stop it.

04 · Clinical
Seven days with a SIP-informed AI consultant

Registrants get a week inside WeMind, where a consultant shaped by our Somatic Integration and Processing material sits beside you between sessions. Try it on a real case, then decide.

05 · Business
30% off Therapy Growth Systems

Websites for EMDR and trauma therapists, built and maintained by people who do nothing else, starting with an audit of how your current site shows up in search. The same rate Notice That listeners get.

06 · Us
Your questions, answered live

Seats are capped in both rooms so the last stretch of the morning is yours. Bring the task you are tired of doing by hand.

We use both WeMind and Therapy Growth Systems ourselves, and Beyond Healing has a relationship with each. We name that here so you can weigh it. Neither is required for anything in the workshop.

Ryan Savage

Co-owner and Executive Director, Beyond Healing. Runs the systems behind the center, the institute and the podcast.

We own a center, an institute and a podcast, and over the last few years we rebuilt how all three run around these tools, mostly by trial and error, one careful step at a time. Nothing on this page is secondhand. It is what we learned figuring it out ourselves, and the conversation we wish someone had had with us at the start.

Questions therapists ask before registering
Do I need to be technical?

No. If you can send an email you can do everything in this workshop. Bring a laptop if you want to set things up live; you can also watch and take the toolkit home.

Why you three?

Because we did it to our own company first. Beyond Healing is a center, an institute and a podcast, and the three of us own all of it. Over the last few years we moved the operations, the marketing and parts of the clinical workflow onto these tools ourselves, without a consultant, and made most of the mistakes you are worried about making. The workshop is what survived.

Is this a sales pitch for a product?

No. We name the platforms you keep hearing about so you can tell them apart, and we point to two tools we use ourselves, with a trial and a discount attached. The workshop is about your readiness, not a purchase. You could leave and use none of them.

What about confidentiality and HIPAA?

The rules you leave with start there. We are plain about what never goes into a general-purpose tool, what a business associate agreement does and does not cover, and how to keep client communication out of your AI's reach. We are clinicians, not attorneys, and we will tell you where to check with yours.

I own a group practice. Is this for me?

Yes, and the fourth hour is largely yours: email, scheduling, referral tracking, and the website. If you are solo, you still own a business, and the same hour applies.

In person or online, which is better?

Same morning, same material, same toolkit. In person at 325 South Avenue has 25 seats and the people in the room. Online has 50 seats and your own desk. Pick the room you will actually show up in.

Does it count for CE?

4 NBCC clock hours, with a certificate issued after the live session. Beyond Healing Institute is an NBCC-approved continuing education provider.
